beyond perception: seeing the unseen, scienceworks

Mamma loves Scienceworks and we love their Beyond Perception: Seeing the Unseen exhibition. It is a fantastic addition to our favourite place for 'bigger kids'. The permanent exhibition is located upstairs where the Nitty Gritty Super City exhibition used to reside and it is a complete masterpiece in technology, visually amazing and of course educational.

The exhibition is dark and as mysterious as science often is with luminous displays depicting everything from gravitational waves, black holes to invisible light and hidden worlds. It is, inspiring and of course fun!

Beyond Perception - Mamma Knows West

Mostly everything is interactive and completely immersive - Mamma loves the light room where you can control the intensity and shapes of the huge light column. The section where you can manipulate patterns in the fog is cool and we all loved pressing our hands into space to bend the galaxy. Oh and the 'snow tank' is mesmerising!

The whole place is a pulsating world of discovery ready for you to explore - developed in consultation with scientists, acoustic engineers and teenagers, Beyond Perception is an intriguing space with a fresh and awe-inspiring new design approach.

This exhibition is pitched at 11 year olds and over - it is worth checking out with younger kids though - It is FREE (with your general admission) and quite an engaging experience.

Mamma's special mention: For the little ones there is the fantastic Ground Up play space down stairs and of course all the usual fun that happens at Scienceworks!
